“On Monday 10th May, I was diagnosed as COVID positive. Whilst at the time, I remained positive about my diagnosis and immediately went into self-isolation, my worry was always my underlying health condition, that of being a renal transplant patient. I was put on a regime of drugs and was vigilant in taking them. However, on the evening of Sunday 16th May, I felt that I had regressed and drove myself to the casualty department at the hospital. I was admitted to hospital early on Monday 17th May as a COVID patient.

I am being looked after by my nephrologist and pulmonologist and am taking it a step at a time. It has not been a pleasant time as my family at home also contracted it. I have no idea how long my recovery will be but ask for everyone to respect our privacy as a family at this time. As soon as I have any further information to put out, I will let everyone know. This is a big blow but through everyone’s prayers, love and good thoughts, I am confident that our family can overcome this. For the moment, I will remain out of commission and thank my dear friend and business partner, Neil Andrews, for continuing with our very successful Clocking The Gallop programme.”
